ARB Awnings (or Touring Awnings) are cost effective, efficient and easy to deploy and store way to add extra living space to your campsite. Originally designed for the Outback conditions in Australia, the ARB awnings are rugged but lightweight, and provide fast and convenient protection the sun or rain while camping.
Each of these awnings mounts directly to your vehicle or roof rack and stows away in it's own PVC bag while you are traveling. When you reach your campsite, simply unzip the bag, roll out the awning and twist and lock the ground and support poles in place. The set up process takes less than a minute. For breezier locations, the guy ropes and hardened steel stakes that come with the awning can be used to tie down the poles.
NOTE: These awnings are a bit difficult for one person to set up by themselves (not impossible though! See the video below).
Newly designed for 2014, ARB awnings now come in the same widths as before (1250, 2000 and 2500) but now offer a bit more shade with a longer roll out depth. The smallest awning is the 1250 model (about 4 feet wide), and the 2500 is the largest (about 8ft wide).
The ARB New Model Awnings now measure as follows:
1250: 1250mm x 2100mm (Roughly 4' wide x 6.88' deep )
2000: 2000mm x 2500mm (Roughly 6.5' wide x 8.2' deep)
2500: 2500mm x 2500mm (Roughly 8.2' wide x 8.2' deep)
Features of all ARB Awnings:
Several optional accessories are now also available for the 2000 and 2500 Size Awnings including: Four sided room with floor; Three sided Room without floor; Mosquito Screen Enclosure; Windbreaks. (Accessories sold separately)

I really like this awning. It's affordable and offers a huge amount of coverage. It's possible to set up solo but easier with two. The material has a few imperfections but thankfully Das Mule is fully supportive and is swapping it out. This small issue does not dissuade me from thinking this is a great awning with many years of solid service ahead.
We also bought the full room with waterproof floor for an extra 16-ish sqft of mosquito and rain protection. Out cat will love it too. The room has a zippered door that faces the Vanagon slider. It's not a perfect fit so we will need to make some snap on gussets to keep our cat from getting lost.

It is no lie, this awning deploys quickly and locks in to place rather easily. I haven't camped with it yet but based on my experience with the same size Fiamma, I expect I will enjoy this at least as much. Mine is mounted on a Thule crossbar that sits in a rain gutter and after further review should have modified the setup so the awning sits just over the rain gutter so rain doesn't blow in from right above my sliding door.
